Newport retreat

Location:

Newport Beach NSW

Vintage:

Mark IV

Modifications:

The front elevation is in near original condition except the verandah balustrade. The remaining exterior elevations have sadly, been clad in a pale green vinyl weatherboard.

The kitchen is about ten years old and employs much of the original layout which still works very well.

We have painted the entire interior, including the beams, in a warm white, and have stained the floors a black brown which provides a very flexible grounding for the decoration. The large picture window in the living space opens up district views & faces north.  A welcome addition to these later versions of the Beachcomber.

In addition we have enclosed the back half of downstairs, behind the laundry, to create two studio offices & a library, retaining two under-crofts – one for a small car and the other functions as a patio fronting the garden.

The Beachcomber Experience:

“Following the recent article in the SMH featuring Nino & discovering your website I now am now very much aware of this marvellous little architectural niche.

My partner together with our daughter enjoy the pleasure of living in a Mark IV Beachcomber in Newport in Sydney’s northern beaches.

Thanks again for your website & we look forward to further news from the Beachcomber.”
